Angling holiday on Lake Fuschl: "Petri Heil!"

Lake Fuschl belongs to the most popular fishing lakes in the Salzkammergut Lake District. Centuries ago Salzburg's arch bishops discovered the quality of fresh Lake Fuschl fish and since then the lakes reputation as home to the tastiest, cleanest fish in the region has grown and the variety of fish found in the lake is as big as ever.

Finally fishing season! Early in the morning, when a thick layer of mist covers the surface of the lake, the first anglers row their boats to their favourite spot on the lake and then wait. Those who spend their angling holidays at Ebner's Waldhof are always among the first on the lake because our four-star superior hotel is located right on the shores of Lake Fuschl, just a couple of metres away from the boat moorings and the hotel's own private beach. A holiday here meets all the requirements of a discerning angler. 

Fuschl am See provides the best possible conditions for an angling holiday. The clean waters of the lake covering 265 hectares are full of a rich variety of species: 

Lake trout, brook trout, lake char, white fish, vendace, pike, tench, carp, eel, perch, chub, roach and rudd are just some of the species of fish that live and thrive in Lake Fuschl.   

Now and again whiting, pikeperch and other types are trout are caught but these are less common and included on the fishing card. 

Size limitations and fishing seasons 

• lake trout: 50 cm, 1.4.-15.9.
• lake char: 26 cm, 1.4.-15.9.
• vandace: size between 38-41 cm and over 45 cm, 1.4.- 30.9. between 41-45 cm catches are not permitted
• pike: 50 cm, 1.5.-30.11
• tench: 30 cm, 1.4.-15.5. and 1.8.-30.11.
• carp: 30 cm, 1.4.-30.11
• eels: 35 cm, 1.4.-30.11
