Active winter holidays.
Winter holidays with sport and wellness on the shores of Lake Fuschl in the Salzkammergut.
Snow-bikes are "in"
The latest attraction for young and old! Not only is it fun but snow-biking is quick and easy to learn.
Weekly introductory snow-bike courses with Thomas Ebner!
Going on a snow-shoe walk is a unique way to experience the wonders of nature. The hotel owner, Mr. Ebner and Katharina your wellness representative, will take you across virginal snow-covered meadows, into romantic valleys and sunny clearings. Snow-shoes and poles are provided free of charge by the hotel.
Fun on slopes for children
A short walk away from the hotel you will discover a fairytale children's paradise in a forest clearing on the side of a hill. Here children can make their first attempts at skiing and try out all the other winter activities available on this sunny plateau. Children's ski equipment can be hired from our partner sports shop the neighbouring village of Faistenau.
A brisk walk up hill from the hotel will take you to the top of the flood-lit toboggan run. You can toboggan to your heart's content until 10 pm. On the tubing run at the Waldhof Alm you can even save the walk up hill after a thrilling "slide" by using the snow-tubing lift. For the more adventurous Katharina organises a tobogganing evening at the nearby Schafbachalm every week!
Curling Austrian style
The entertaining curling tournaments are a real favourite among our guests. Fun for the whole family Austrian style and with Austrian rules! Our wellness trainer Katharina or Mr. Ebner himself are happy to explain the rules and give you a few tips on how to improve your technique.
Great fun for "children" of all ages. Originating in Canada, snow-tubing has become a popular winter pastime here in Austria and an absolute winter highlight at the Waldhof for the last two years. Just as popular is the magic carpet which enables tubers to return to the top of the slope without tiring themselves out.
We can provide the equipment: for adults and children.
There's no need to bring cumbersome winter sports equipment with you on your holiday at the Waldhof:
We have 40 sets of cross-country skis and poles, 20 curling stones, 30 pairs of ice-skates, 30 pairs of snow-shoes, 15 snow tubes and 10 bikes ready for you to use free of charge!
Feeding the deer in Hintersee
A very special experience awaits you in an inconspicuous clearing at the end of the valley in the nearby village of Hintersee. Once the local foresters cover the ground with hay and beets it's a case of "wait and see". It doesn't take long before the first rustling above the clearing is heard, one after another the deer shyly show themselves and descend gracefully to the feeding ground. After about an hour over 100 animals gather in the clearing where they can be watched at a distance of around 30 metres by the enthralled onlookers. Every Wednesday the Waldhof guests are among the onlookers.
